Who are we?

Family & Friends of Steel Charitable Fund is an organization made up of Nucor teammates and their families who are dedicated to making a difference through fundraising, volunteerism, and community partnerships. Our mission is to support nonprofit organizations, children, veterans' programs, and other charitable causes that strengthen communities and create a lasting, positive impact throughout the regions we serve.‍

We are a 501 (C)(3) charity.

In the nine years since we started FFS, we have been blessed to contribute over $300,000 to our local communities.  Some of our donations/recipients include: 

  • $100,000+ in backpacks and school supplies for kids.

  • Leon and surrounding counties Fire Departments

  • Joseph D. Bay Scholarship Sponsorship

  • Pleasant Hills Children’s Home

  • Veterans Appreciation Day

  • Leon County Food Pantries

  • Lara’s House Animal Shelter

  • Chad Walker Tournament

  • SPUR Making Veteran’s

  • Jewett Rodeo Association

  • Leon, Limestone & Freestone Co Cancer Support Organizations

  • Freestone County Go Texan

  • Local Assisted Living Facilities

  • And more!

Additionally, the FFS team has donated more than 1,500 volunteer hours to our communities.

How have we helped?

How do we raise funds?

We host yearly events such as a BBQ Cook Off & Concert, Car Show, Fishing Tournament, Golf Tournament, Raffle, Hog Hunt and new events are being planned. 

Additionally, we are blessed with donations from sponsors and weekly payroll deductions from Nucor employees.
